About Me

Baby

My beautiful babies

My name is April. I live in Surrey, England, and I intend to celebrate my 100th birthday in good health.

I am not a scientist, medical doctor, or health practitioner. Beyond two degrees in technology, I am not an academic. I do not offer medical advice, claim to cure disease, or in opposition to medicine. I respect evidence based healthcare, prescribed medication and treatment plans recommended by medical professionals and public health authorities.

At the same time, there is a vast landscape of knowledge, tools, and practices related to health, prevention, and longevity that sit outside what publicly funded healthcare systems can realistically provide. Many of these are not about treating illness once it appears, but about reducing risk, supporting the body and maintaining resilience over time.

Rather than waiting for problems to arise and then seeking a fix, I am interested in understanding biology, mental health and the interconnected systems that influence long term wellbeing. My focus is prevention, informed choice and personal responsibility for health, within the limits of what any individual can control.

I read and research extensively in the areas of health, prevention and longevity. I make personal choices around supplements, herbs, lifestyle practices and habits that I believe support my physical and mental wellbeing. I am also human. I have health challenges, imperfect habits and ongoing learning, just like everyone else. This website is simply a record of that process.

I am 54 this year and a mother of two daughters. I have no diagnosed chronic illnesses, although earlier in life I encountered issues such as elevated blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose. Today, I am rarely unwell, tend to recover quickly when I am, and maintain a high level of energy. I work long hours in a full time job, I fully support my family financially, and invest significant time, attention and resources into health and wellbeing. None of this is effortless or inexpensive. Neither, however, is chronic disease.

Barring accidents or events beyond my control, my aim is to reach old age mobile, mentally present, and free from major chronic illness for as long as possible. This website is my journal of how I hope to get there.

You may not agree with everything I write, and that is fine. You are not required to stay. If you do, my intention is simply to share ideas, observations, and approaches that may be useful, and to remain open to learning from others along the way.
